The Photographer’s Child

I often have a client say, “You must have so many photos of your kids all over your house!” Well, yes, I do. But probably not as many as one might think, considering my kids are so over me and my camera. They usually roll their eyes when they see my lens cap come off.

I thought I’d share a representative sample of the kinds of images I get when I actually ask my kids to pose for me. Tonight, the big brown truck showed up with a new light set-up (a Westcott Spiderlite TD5, for the photographers who might be interested). That seemed like the perfect excuse to let my boys stay up a little later to pose play.

Luckily, they were fascinated with this gigantic light in my living room, so I actually got an ounce or two of cooperation without major bribery. I actually got a few portraits I love! But I still got a few goofy faces. That’s a photographer’s child for you!

Two Adorable Brothers | Lenox Area Photography

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this family every year since the older brother’s 1st birthday. Every year, they get cuter and cuter! Without a doubt, the highlight of this year’s session was seeing the friendship that they now share. They clearly have a very strong and happy bond. I’m sure they have their moments, as all siblings do, but the love and laughter will prevail time and time again.

As always, L family, thank you. It is an honor and a joy to work with you each year, and I look forward to our sessions every time! Hugs to those precious boys!

This is my favorite image of the whole session. I just love the relationship between the boys, the framing of the large tree that emphasizes their smallness, the soft Autumn light, the innocence and peacefulness of it all.

A New Friend

Meet Miss L, and her baby brother N. Look at the resemblance in these two. Their eyes, their smile … you can tell they are siblings! These two children were so precious, and so well behaved! I even called my husband on the drive home to tell him how enjoyable this session was, and how impressed I was with their gentle and sweet demeanors. And L had the cutest little painted toenails.

We met at a park in Smyrna, which has a long walking path we followed from one photo spot to the next. Just a few steps into our walk, darling Miss L tiptoed up beside me and reached up to hold my hand as we walked. Oh, how she stole my heart!!

I also loved watching N’s curiosity as we plopped him down here and there. Of course, he tried to pick up and eat a few things off the ground … as babies his age so often do. Dad stayed on alert for foreign objects while I photographed N’s discovery of the world around him.

Thank you to this lovely family for a truly enjoyable afternoon, and for sharing your children with me. It was a pleasure! I’m especially thankful for my new friend.
