Whew! My calendar filled fast! | Atlanta, GA Photography

It never fails. I get hit with a flurry of inquiries around mid-August as people start thinking about their holiday portraits. It seems so early to be planning the annual Christmas card portrait, but it’s wise to plan these things early!

I just filled the last spot on my calendar for September and October, the prime months for holiday portraits. Thanks so much to all my clients, repeat and new, for choosing me as your photographer. Let’s all cross our fingers and toes for some gorgeous weather and delicious Fall color, and let’s have a blast capturing your family’s memories!

Cancellations and reschedules do happen, so please contact me if you are still interested in a Fall session. If dates open up, I will also try to post them here. I still have a few spots left for November and December, but they are AFTER the holiday order deadline. Stay tuned … I’ll be offering some special deals for those who plan ahead for their January and February portraits!

And now, please allow me to share a truly darling baby girl that I meant to have on the blog before now! Her family already has their session presentation, so I completely missed the sneak peek opportunity! But she is just too cute not to show off on the blog. Don’t you agree?

Miss M is a Milestones baby, so I get the treat of photographing her throughout her first year. She has grown so much since our last session, already standing and just on the brink of walking, I think! She has such a sweet smile and gentle spirit. And she loved my pink pettiskirt!

Three Months

I’m behind on sneak peeks! Thanks so much for your patience, my recent clients. I’m juggling so many different things this summer. But I’m catching up!

Allow me to introduce Miss A. I love the age of three months. Those first sweet smiles are just starting to emerge, the little baby smiling in response to her mommy and daddy’s voice and face. The first glimpses of the baby’s personality are there, and her eyes are so bright and curious.

Miss A was no exception. She was ready for a snooze when I arrived, and I was thrilled about that! It’s rare I get the chance to photograph a peaceful sleeping infant other than newborns. And one of those little smiles even peeked out through her slumber. Oh, is there anything more precious than a sleeping baby with a smile on her face? Her nap was short, and she was content to pose with those gorgeous big eyes sparkling at me. She didn’t even mind the tummy time! We finished our session in their beautiful back yard. Miss A’s dress matched the blooming impatiens perfectly.

The Camera

I think I have a new favorite quotation, maybe even a new life motto. I came across this on a photography site I visit often.

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” – Dorothea Lange

Meet Miss A. Oh, she was a joy to photograph! She was so sweet, smiley, and calm. Her parents themselves are involved in the art world professionally, so it was a great honor to be chosen as their photographer. During the session, her mom said to me, “What it must be like to see the world through your eyes.” What a compliment that was! On my drive home, I remembered that quotation I had just read, and reflected on how incredibly blessed I am to be a photographer. I never thought I could have, never knew it possible to have, a career that I would still do even if I wasn’t being paid.

And babies like Miss A are huge part of that blessing. For an hour or two, I get to enjoy some fresh air and new scenery with a new family, focusing (no pun intended) on all things beautiful and innocent in that singular moment, brought to life by a darling baby discovering it for the first time. My camera and my clients allow me a view on life that I would have never had otherwise. I don’t know how long God will entrust me with this gift, but I will cherish each and every moment for as long as I can. I hope to have a camera in my hand, professionally or not, for the rest of my life.

So thank you, to this family and all my clients, for being part of this gift, this blessing, to me.
