Spring is here! | Virginia Highlands Photographer

Isn’t the warm weather wonderful? Even though the cloud of yellow pollen will certainly descend on Atlanta soon, for now, I am reveling in our sudden onset of Spring, and so are my clients. It never ceases to amaze me each year how my portrait session inquiries double as soon as the warm weather hits. I don’t mind, of course! I’m excited to meet so many new families this Spring, and to see some sweet familiar faces, too. If you are considering a portrait session for April or May, call soon! The calendar always fills very quickly this time of year, when our mild temps and budding flowers make such a perfect setting for outdoor portraits.

This month, I got to meet darling Griffin as he celebrated his first birthday. I just love working with little guys this age. I think the age of one year to eighteen months might be my favorite. They are so full of personality at this age, intensely curious about each new discovery, and full of giggles and joy. Griffin was no exception. What a darling little man!

Merry Christmas!

I have been too busy to blog like I should this season, but I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a very merry, magical, and blessed Christmas. After wrapping up my very full portrait season last week, my family and I headed to Orlando for a week with Mickey, the Princesses, and even a day in Hogsmeade. It was just what I needed – time away from everyday life and work to just smile and cherish special memories with my husband and kids. We had a glorious week, returning to life at home yesterday. We are watching our favorite Christmas movies, wrapping gifts, and laughing at the latest escapades of our visiting elf. Tonight we will celebrate our Savior’s birth with a birthday cake and delicious dinner, and we look forward to our day with extended family tomorrow. (… and hoping for snow!!!!)

Now that I have time to breathe and sleep again, I’ll be back to blogging regularly soon. I’ll be sharing some of this Fall’s sessions and some personal photographic memories from this year. I also have some new things for Shannon Holden Photography coming up in the New Year, so stay tuned!

I hope all of you out there have a year of smiles, love, and wonder in 2011. Thank you for the blessing you have been to me this year. I have the best clients in the world.

Much love,
Shannon

to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Amber | Roswell Children’s Portraits

What a perfect model! Miss Amber is almost three years old and has such a tender, playful personality. She was a little shy at first but we became good friends as we explored and sang songs together. I surprised her with some funny new lyrics for the Itsy Bitsy Spider, and she responded with a giggle and a perfect smile. As I began editing Amber’s portraits, I had to stop and email her mom, because I was just so excited to see the precious images we created together. Those deep, innocent blue eyes and her sweet, golden hair. She is such a beautiful child!

Her mom brought along some fantastic outfits for our session. Isn’t that hat wonderful? I love the creativity she added to the session, and the freedom she gave me to do my own thing as the artist. I find some of the best portrait results happen when the parents and I “click” creatively and just have fun. This was one of those sessions!

Allyson, it was awesome meeting you and Amber! Thank you for this opportunity to be your photographer. I hope to see you both again very soon!
