Straight from Heaven … | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

She is here! I can hardly look at that sweet face without tears of joy welling in my eyes. I love her momma so, and my children and I have sent up so many prayers to Heaven for this little girl. She is truly a miracle in every way, and what a blessing she will be to so many in her life. She already is! It was wonderful enough just meeting Sophia Grace for the first time to create her portraits, but to see her Mommy and Daddy experiencing their dream come true … there are no words.

The first image reminded me immediately of one of my favorite quotations … “Babies smile in their sleep because they can still see Heaven there.” After I captured that image, I just sat and watched Sophia sleep for a moment, imagining the sweet songs her angels were singing to her.

My daughter is sitting and staring at Sophia’s portraits even now as I type, asking me when she can hold her. Alas, patience is not her strong suit. She has even asked excitedly when she can babysit. So Cherice and Kevin, get ready for a date night in about 8 years! You have a sitter all lined up. :)

Welcome to the world, Sophia Grace. It has been waiting for you.

Much love,
Shannon

Welcome, Clara | Atlanta Newborn Photography

I love my job. Have I mentioned that lately? My husband and I have a little saying we repeat often … “We’re fresh out of babies around here.” My youngest child just turned 4. And while I’m 99% positive their are no babies in our future as a family, I am so thankful to have a career that introduces me (and let’s me snuggle with) such beautiful babies on a regular basis! Clara was an absolute delight for our session! She was wide awake for most of it, and so calm and content. It took a while for her mommy to convince her to take a snooze, but once she did, she slept so soundly and peacefully, even through all our moving and posing her.

Isn’t her nursery darling?
This carriage was her mother’s doll carriage from her childhood. I couldn’t wait to incorporate it into our portrait session when I saw it!!

Julie and Chad, your daughter is breathtaking! Thank you for the opportunity to be her very first photographer.

Much love,
Shannon

Holding Memories | Atlanta Portrait Artist

Announcing a new product from Shannon Holden Photography! I fell in love with these when I saw them at the photography convention I recently attended. I ordered my first sample hours after I got home. And I love it even more now that I’m holding it in my hands!

Introducing our heirloom Memory Boxes. Custom matched to your baby’s nursery or your child’s room, each box is a work of art in itself. You choose the treasures to keep inside … baby’s hospital bracelet, a first lock of hair, and a copy of his birth announcement. Or maybe it can be a collection of snapshots from your son’s 5th year, along with the ornament he made in Kindergarten, and the note he wrote to you on Mother’s Day this year. Even high school seniors can store their memories and snapshots of senior year, their graduation announcement, and the tassle from their cap. I’m designing a box for each of my sons who were baptized this year, where they can keep their memories of their baptism day, the cards from dear friends, the photos of their baptism, and their personalized Bibles which were a gift from their aunt.

The outside measurement of the box is 9.5″ x 9.5″ x 3″ deep. The inside of the box is lined in black cloth. (Please pardon the blurred area on the sample box below. I try to keep my subjects’ last names off my blog for safety reasons.)

I just love these, and I hope you do, too! They are available now in our online store. You can find them in the Specialty Items section.

Much love,
Shannon

P.S. I’m anxious to design a few more of these, so how about an introductory offer? Everyone loves a sale, right? I am offering $50 off all boxes ordered in the next three days. Just email me or visit the online store! Sorry, this offer is only valid on current or previous sessions, not future ones. Expires February 3, 2010 at midnight EST.
