And a Half! | Atlanta Child Photography

It always cracks me up when a child shares their age, and then emphatically adds “and a half!” That Half is a really big deal when you are a kid! My son started adding that important notation when he was about 4 and a half. Those six months represented about 10% of his life lived to that point. He wasn’t about to let anyone lump him into the category of a mere 4 year old.

Well, even though this little guy isn’t old enough yet to worry about that “And a Half”, his mommy recognized how important the Half is! So though we saw each other last Spring for his Two Year portraits, she invited me to photograph him again this month, at the truly significant developmental milestone of Two and a Half. Us moms with older children know it all too well … at two years they are still toddlers, with just a few hints of the baby they once were. But at two and a half, the baby is almost entirely gone, and there is a full blown child running around! They are talking, discovering, thinking, pretending, jumping, climbing, dreaming, becoming.

Two and a half can almost be marked as the beginning of childhood. So I think this Half is well worth celebrating in portraits! Kudos, Mom!

Here he is! | Buckhead Child Photographer

Here is that adorable two year old I promised! And am I right? Could he be any cuter? He was such a great little subject. Full of energy and joy, and also sweet and well behaved. I loved exploring the park with him, seeing him check out the ducks and the lake, and generally run, scamper, and play. He’s precious!

Thanks, Mom and Dad, for the chance to meet your handsome boy and to be his photographer. Clients like him are why I LOVE my job!

You know how I love those eyelash shots!!

And I’ll always be a sucker for some magical backlighting.

Zoom, zoom, zoom!

That was the song/phrase I heard in my head driving home from this session. These kids had energy! It was fun watching their playful antics at the park. We had such beautiful weather at last that day, and I think the sunshine and cool breeze energized them even more! Thankfully, we were able to convince them to sit down for a few minutes which gave us time to focus on each of them individually, their bright eyes, and their beautiful smiles. And to even be able to capture an image of all three together … that was a bonus!

Thank you to the B family for spending this fun morning with me. And thank you to all my clients who have been so patient in this past week as my family got over this icky stomach bug. I appreciate your understanding when Mommy Duty had to take priority over work for several days. All my kids are back at school today so I’m getting caught up slowly but surely!
