Sadie | Duluth Family and Child Photography

This darling family was referred to me by a good friend and fellow photographer who is taking a break from the biz. She told me ahead of time how wonderful this family would be to work with, and she was so right! Spending the morning with them left a big smile on my face for the rest of the day. And just how adorable is little Sadie? Don’t you just want to hug her? I loved how Becki matched outfits with her daughter, and the natural joy and love from all of them just made the session perfect.

Thank you, Becki, Marty and Sadie! I have been blessed by the opportunity to be your new photographer!

Welcome to the World, Little Ones | Atlanta Newborn Twin Photography

We had dinner with some great friends this weekend, who happened to start out as clients several years ago. She has been one of my loyal blog followers for quite some time. She said to me, with a smile and a raised eyebrow, “You know, you really need to get back to blogging.” Yes, yes, I know. I’ve been enjoying the lull of January after the crazy busy season. In fact, I had planned to take a good part of January off. But then I got a call about two brand new baby boys who were ready for their first portrait session. Who can resist newborn twins? That was worth breaking my vacation early for!

These two handsome little men were perfect for their first photo shoot. They were awake a good bit of the time, but so calm and peaceful. They finally agreed to doze off together, and we all let out a collective “awww!” when they settled into their cuddled pose. Their big sister hovered close during our shoot, curious to watch, excited to have her portrait made, and ever so loving and nurturing toward her baby brothers. All three were simply precious.

Much love,
Shannon

Merry Christmas!

I have been too busy to blog like I should this season, but I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a very merry, magical, and blessed Christmas. After wrapping up my very full portrait season last week, my family and I headed to Orlando for a week with Mickey, the Princesses, and even a day in Hogsmeade. It was just what I needed – time away from everyday life and work to just smile and cherish special memories with my husband and kids. We had a glorious week, returning to life at home yesterday. We are watching our favorite Christmas movies, wrapping gifts, and laughing at the latest escapades of our visiting elf. Tonight we will celebrate our Savior’s birth with a birthday cake and delicious dinner, and we look forward to our day with extended family tomorrow. (… and hoping for snow!!!!)

Now that I have time to breathe and sleep again, I’ll be back to blogging regularly soon. I’ll be sharing some of this Fall’s sessions and some personal photographic memories from this year. I also have some new things for Shannon Holden Photography coming up in the New Year, so stay tuned!

I hope all of you out there have a year of smiles, love, and wonder in 2011. Thank you for the blessing you have been to me this year. I have the best clients in the world.

Much love,
Shannon

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I love how God works | Roswell Family Photographer

When I first felt the nudge to go to Africa this past summer on my first mission trip, one of the initial anxiety points that cropped up was my fear of traveling. That anxiety was multiplied ten-fold by my fear of traveling with strangers. I’m generally a fairly shy homebody. But God knows my heart, and he knows what I need. First, he led me to an opening on a Wiphan mission with my kids’ PE teacher, a woman I admire and feel very comfortable with. The stranger obstacle was removed, or at least reduced. Then I found out my son’s teacher’s son (following me?), whom I had photographed before, was also going to be traveling with us. And our team would be led by another family I knew through school, whose daughter was in my son’s grade. Ok, God, thanks for the reassurance!

In the midst of my anxiety about committing to the trip, I met Christy one afternoon on the school playground. I knew we had mutual friends, and I knew she was involved with Wiphan. I soon learned that she and her husband Brad would be traveling with our group. What I didn’t know was how much I would come to adore this family! One would think that 10 days in a foreign, impoverished country with a random group of people could be a recipe for stress and misery. But God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good. He put together a perfect group of 9 strangers and turned them into friends. We spent those 10 days together, laughing, learning, helping, hurting, worshiping, serving, seeking, and growing. It was hands-down one of the best experiences of my entire life. And forever, Brad and Christy will be a key thread in that memory for me.

I had a blast creating their family portraits this year. Their family and mine have gotten to spend more time together since our trip. Anyone who knows them can tell you that they are some of the warmest, most selfless, and most entertaining people around! I always look forward to time with them, and our session was no different. Kyle and Lily Kate are so precious. Kyle has a sense of calm wisdom about him, though with that spark of energy that all 5 year olds have. Lily Kate is funny and spirited.

Brad and Christy, thank you for being who you are, loyal friends, loving parents, and humble servants of God. I am so blessed to know you. I hope we can share more journeys together in the future.

Much love,
Shannon

He's Always Good - Good for you dear writer. Fear is not that easy to be removed. But if you have FAITH, and JUST HAVE FAITH to God then it’s easy to remove all the fears you have on life. Why? because you believe in yourself that God won’t let us Harm in anyways. So have trust and STRONG FAITH on HIM.
