Ella is Three | Roswell Family Portraits

There are some families I’ve met in this business who grow so close to my heart. This is one of those special families. I met them when this precious girl was just a tiny baby, brand new to the world. Working with them these three years, getting to see beautiful Ella grow and change each year … I’ve just been so blessed by every session I’ve spent with them. And every other time our paths have happily crossed, at church, on Facebook, and the time Kirsten even worked with me to help me survive the busy holiday portrait season. The world needs more people like Scott, Kirsten and Ella … loving, genuine, encouraging, and warm.

And soon, a baby brother will be arriving in their home. Ella is going to be a magnificent big sister!

Scott, Kirsten, and Ella, thank you for your friendship these years. I am so thankful our paths intersected and I can’t wait to meet your baby boy!

Much love,
Shannon

A Sentimental Spot | Barnsley Gardens

This session was one of the most fun sessions I have had in recent months. When Melissa first contacted me about their family portrait session, and we started brainstorming together on a location, I could already tell we were going to have a great time working together. She brought so much enthusiasm and creative energy to the planning of her portraits. Then she told me about a treasured family memory they share, of the beautiful spot at Barnsley Gardens where her husband proposed. Without a doubt, it seemed a perfect idea to return to Barnsley Gardens as they celebrated their son Hudson’s first birthday and we created their first portraits together as a family.

Planning a destination session such as this can be a challenge. Coordinating travel and timing, crossing every finger and toe for great weather, and making sure our star subject is happy and comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. Thankfully, it all came together just beautifully. Hudson is such a sweetheart and was a perfect little model. Melissa and Steve are genuine and natural for the camera. And our weather was ideal! Barnsley’s own Fairy Godmother, Denise, gave us truly magical treatment, escorting us around the property on a golf cart, showing us some great spots for the portraits and even supplying balloons and bubbles for Hudson, and refreshments as we worked. The entire staff was wonderfully accommodating. I can’t wait to return to Barnsley with my own family for a weekend getaway. What a remarkable and lovely spot it is!

Steve, Melissa, and Hudson, thank you for sharing this special memory with me. I will remember our day at Barnsley Gardens with fondness!

Much love,
Shannon

Cameron | Atlanta Family Photographer

Any photographer will tell you that there are some children we meet who keep us smiling long after the session ends. Cameron was one of those kids for me. First of all, he is my favorite age – about a year and a half. Like most toddlers in that stage, he is so full of personality. He had so many adorable expressions, and he giggled right on cue with my peekaboo games. He was also fascinated … and I mean, REALLY fascinated with my camera. His parents tell he has a love of all things electronic. It will be interesting to see where life leads this little one … a future career at Apple or Microsoft perhaps?

Johanna and Robert, thank you so much for the chance to be your photographer and to meet your amazing son! I’m even smiling now as I think back on our session. It was truly a pleasure.

Much love,
Shannon

My dog loving blog readers … doesn’t this just melt your heart? I love the bond between a dog and his human, especially the tiny ones.

Preston | Smyrna Baby Photographer

I loved meeting this family for the first time. Preston just celebrated his first birthday. He’s a very intelligent and curious little guy. Though he was a little reserved on sharing his smiles that day, he did offer a few for us, and many other adorable expressions. I can tell this one will continue to have a precious personality as he grows.

We were lucky to fit in the family portrait session before this unbearable heat set in to Atlanta. And we even dodged the rain that threatened that day.

Julie, Robby, and Preston, thank you for sharing a fun evening with me. It was a treat to meet you all!

Much love,
Shannon
