A personal photography project: to create one new photograph every day of 2008. (It’s Leap Year!)

Day 66

Good grief! I’m doing a lousy job keeping the Project 366 blog updated!! I’ve been shooting almost every day … almost. I’ve had to finally admit to myself that sometimes the 366 photo just doesn’t make it on the priority list some days. I’m going to go ahead and post today’s photo while I’m here at my desk. I’ll fill in the last 10 days soon! (And I’ll pre-date them, so they show up in order on the blog … so be sure to scroll down to check out the new ones when I get them posted.)

Today’s shoot was very fun … it was for my dad! My father, Larry Gebhardt, is an Emmy-award winning cinematographer. He asked me to create some new portrait shots for his website and some other marketing pieces. It was a different dynamic, working with my father. He knows photography, knows the shot he has in mind, and like me, he has a natural instinct to notice the pattern of light in a scene. So this shoot was truly a collaborative process, with two creative minds working together. As dad described to me the shot he had in his mind, my job was to create it within my camera and capture it.

So here is our mutual favorite from the shoot. I’m proud to call him my Dad, and proud that I could create this portrait of him.
