The Story of Abigail | Roswell Children’s Photographer

Shortly before our session that evening, Abigail’s mom sent me an email that read, “Warning: Abigail will be wearing full princess regalia. She flat out refused to wear her other dress.” Ah yes, the fashion opinions of a three year old … I know them well. And I must say, I love that we shot Abigail’s portrait session in her favorite princess gown. This is who Abigail is at age three! I applaud her mommy and daddy for celebrating her and all of her young passions, because these days of gowns and tiaras are gone so quickly.

I can still think back on my oldest son at age three, and I remember vividly the red plastic firefighter hat that he wore every single day for a year. At the time, I begged him to take the hat off for our various photo ops, and most of the time he refused. Now I look back at those photographs, at that precious little red hat, and my eyes well up. I don’t remember the last time my son wore that hat. We rarely get a chance to cherish the last time our children do something precious, before leaving it behind in the memory of their childhood. But we can always cherish THIS time, these moments, reveling in the present of their childhood days.

Your Royal Highness, Princess Abigail, thank you for letting me have a little glimpse into your childhood world. It was an honor and a pleasure. One I will cherish.

Much love,
Shannon

Sisters | Alpharetta Photography

This sweet mom first called me quite some time ago to photograph her little one’s birthday party. I was sad to already be committed on that day and unable to capture their special event. Thankfully, she called me again, this time for a session with her two girls. Now that I have gotten to meet her and see the creativity and enthusiasm she brought to our session, I am even more sad I missed what was surely an amazing birthday party!

The tea set and the apple barrel were her ideas … she even did the prop hunting at the local antique stores to find the barrel. I love the vibrant color and sweet theme it brought to our session! There were so many images I dearly loved from this session – I had a hard time narrowing them down for the blog. My apologies for the cuteness overload!

Thank you, S Family!

Much love,
Shannon

A dream come true … | Atlanta Photography

I admit, I cried on my way to this session. I was thinking about this blog post. I was thinking back on what this precious mommy-to-be has meant to me and to my family. I was trying to decide what to write on this post, how to sum up what she has done for our family and what her support and friendship has meant to us. But I just can’t put it into words. The words fall short. Even now, my eyes fill with tears.

I cannot do justice to her story either. The journey she and her husband have traveled to this point, to awaiting the arrival of their baby girl, is also beyond words. It has been a journey of many years and a great deal of heartache. And to see the joy in their eyes now, to see the love they have for their baby girl as they await her birth … oh, more tears! Blessed tears!

Cherice and Kevin, it has been such an honor to capture this time for you. Thank you for being who you are, for the light and love you share with everyone you meet. Thank you for your cherished friendship and for the way you have loved my children. You are one of our greatest blessings.

Much love,
Shannon

So many new babies! | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

Babies are such a nice way to start people. ~Don Herold

I’ve been lucky to meet so many new little people in recent months! There has definitely been a wave of newborns in the Atlanta area. Photographing these tiny miracles stirs my heart each time. It was a joy to meet Will, and to see big sister Kate and his family again. He fits right into this sweet family!

Kate and I spent a few minutes playing together while her baby brother had a quick snack. She was excited to show me her beautiful, pink, Big Girl room. Isn’t she a doll?

Much love,
Shannon
