The Sea | Atlanta Fine Art Photographer

maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach (to play one day)

and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn’t remember her troubles, and

milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;

and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles; and

may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.

For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it’s always ourselves we find in the sea
-e.e. cummings

It’s falling a cold, steady rain in Atlanta tonight, and I’m dreaming of warmth and sun and sand. Anyone out there dreaming with me?

Miracle Baby | Marietta Family Photographer

George’s mommy tells me he is a miracle baby. After some significantly frightening news and possibilities during her pregnancy, and after months of prayer from family and friends, sweet George is here, healthy, and thriving. God is so good!

George is a new member of my Milestones plan, about seven weeks old during this first session, and I am so excited about working with this family in the next year. They were referred to me by some of my favorite clients, and we soon learned that not only do we go to the same church, but we also have some other connections through friends and my children’s school. It’s a God thing, I think. :)

It was a joy to meet George as well as his big sister, Stella. Look at how she adores him! She is going to be such a wonderful big sister!

Erin and Michael, I am thrilled to have met you, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be your photographer this year. I love the way God works. :)

I loved that little tongue sticking out! So cute!!

Such a sweet big sister!

Help me test this? | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

I’m looking for some beta-testers … anyone want to help me out? I just installed a plug-in on my blog that will transform it into a Mobile-Phone friendly blog. I’d be forever grateful if some of you iPhone, Blackberry, or Android users out there would give it a test for me. Please pull up my blog (www.shannonholden.com/blog) on your phone and let me know what you think! Please let me know how the photographs look, how fast it loads for you, how the comment feature works, etc. Thanks so much!

Much love,
Shannon

Caught! | Atlanta Portrait Photographer

Congratulations, Tiffany L! She won a $50 gift certificate by working late … er, I mean … catching me not blogging. She posted her comment at 12:02 a.m. after I missed yesterday’s blog post. Ok, truth be told, I remembered the blog post about 9:30 last night, but I was already in my fuzzy pjs, bundled up under the down comforter, and watching last season’s Lost finale on Netflix. (Who else out there is counting down the minutes until the Lost season premiere tonight???!!) So rather than actually get out of my toasty warm bed to go to my computer at that point, I opted to just skip the blog post and see who would be missing out on sleep to post the first comment. Tiffany was on the ball!

The contest continues … I still must strive to post on the blog every day until February 22. Keep reading, my friends!

Now, back to editing. Today I am working on Samantha’s one year portraits. This sweet girl is graduating from my Milestones plan, during which we captured her first year in portraits. Just as when we worked together for her big sister’s first year in portraits, working with Samantha’s family this year has been such a joy. They are some of the friendliest people I know. Sam is such a photogenic baby and so full of life. Like my daughter who is also a third child, she knows how to win the attention in the room. I loved seeing her toddle around at our session. She wasn’t too keen on heading outdoors during her session, but finally with the help of the rocking horse, we found some smiles.

Christian and Deryck, thank you for sharing Sam’s first year with me, and Layla’s, too! I have truly enjoyed every one of our sessions together. I’m going to miss seeing you every few months!

Much love,
Shannon
