I’m guilty of blog neglect, once again. I took some time off last week (gasp!) to just relax and enjoy the family time over Thanksgiving. We had such a wonderful week. My cousin’s family joined us from Washington DC, and my kids had the time of their life having their young cousins stay for an extended sleepover even if very little sleep happened.
The holiday portrait season is now behind me, and I’m just finishing up the last of the orders to deliver in the next week or so. I’m so lucky to say it was my best season ever. I had many incredible clients, old and new, that shared some fun days and warm memories with me. I feel as blessed as ever for each and every one of you who have entrusted me with your family’s portraits, and I thank you for sharing a glimpse into your lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
December is a light month for me, intentionally so. I need the break after the long hours of the holiday season. I absolutely love Christmas. I have been known to have a Christmas CD playing in my car in July. So when December hits, I really get into the spirit! My tree is up! The boxes are almost put away! And I’m looking eagerly forward to this year’s Christmas memories with my husband and children. We’ve got cookies to bake, gingerbread houses to create, presents to wrap, and carols to sing! And my favorite part is sharing with my children the true meaning of Christmas, in thanking our Savior for his ultimate gift of eternal life with Him.
Stay tuned to the blog this week, as I’ll be sharing a few sessions from the end of the season that I have not yet had a chance to post, plus a couple more that are happening this month. Yesterday, I also got my hands on my new camera, the Canon 5D Mark II … OH MY GOODNESS! I’m elated to start playing with this beautiful piece of equipment and learning all it can do. And then, we’ll hit the ground running in 2009!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
In closing, here is a quick shot of my kids and their cousins from last week. The clothes don’t match, the shoes on my kids are dirty. Hair is a little rumpled. But you can imagine how challenging it is to capture a portrait of 5 children under the age of 7! Their mom and I have tried so often, usually with a great deal of stress and a great lack of success. But on this day, on a lovely morning hike along Vickery Creek in Roswell, we just said, “Hey, Kids! Sit on that log together!” They did, and I snapped the shutter, and Voila! As usual, the best moments are never planned.
