Life is so sweet!

Every so often … well, very often … I have a session from which I cannot wait to race home and see the photographs. It’s such a thrill for me to see what I have captured on camera, and start playing with my favorite images. Today was one of those sessions. This completely adorable baby girl was full of smiles. And those eyes!! You know what a soft spot I have for big blue eyes!!

We had storms in Atlanta today. This was the first session for this family who has joined my Milestones Plan, to capture their daughter’s first year in portraits. When I arrived this morning, her mom and I worried about the dark skies and the low light for our session. But we made it work, and it worked beautifully. To capture this shot, I had Mom and Dad holding their daughter in their open front door. I was outside, in the rain, to get the right angle. Yes, I got drenched. But it was worth it. Anything for the shot!

To the D family, I hope you enjoy this sneak peek! And thank you for choosing me as your daughter’s photographer for the coming year. I had a wonderful time meeting you today and I am excited to be getting to know you this year.

PS – Look at those little baby teeth, Mom! We got a photograph of them after all!

PPS – I really can’t decide which finish I like better for this image, so I’ll share both. How about a vote? Which do you all prefer? Color or Black and White?

Day 32

My oldest, age 6 (for two more weeks). He wants to read everything he can get his hands on. He loves reading to his baby sister and little brother. When we visit the library, he often walks out with an armfull of chapter books, and has them all read by the next afternoon. And so frequently at night, upon our forth or fifth reminder that he needs to sleep, he’ll reply with “Just one more chapter, Mommy?” But alas, sometimes sleep wins.

Well, Hello There!

Yes, I am guilty of blog neglect. I am sorry. I have managed to keep up with the Project 366 Blog, but my main photography blog has been sitting over here very lonely.

I had to reschedule all of my sessions this week. First my daughter got very sick on our trip to Disneyworld, and then I got blasted with a sinus infection that would not let go. Finally, today, I am feeling like myself again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my clients this week who were so understanding, supportive, and agreeable in rescheduling. Your flexibility helped me and my family more than you know!

This weekend, I am thrilled to be participating as a sponsor for the Bellies & Babies Tour with the uber-talented Sandy “Sam” Puc’. Sam is famous in the world of children’s photography, and I’ve been blessed to hear her speak before. It is very exciting to be an active part of her visit to Atlanta this weekend. I can’t wait to soak up just a little of her brilliance!
So until I start shooting again next week, I’d like to share a couple of sessions from before my vacation.

This little guy was precious and hilarious. He was just about to celebrate his first birthday. Oh, what an irresistible personality he has! He flashed that charming smile at me often, and those warm brown eyes just stole my heart.

Happy Birthday, M!
