Twenty Toes – the Sequel

Recognize these two? Well, maybe not. I hardly recognized them myself!! They have grown so much! I first met these two cuties when they were just born, fresh home from the hospital. I posted about them on my blog here back in January.

So tiny then, and so big now! It was such a treat to see their little personalities, each so unique. I’ve just found myself smiling as I’ve edited this session so far – those cute little grins, and those tiny teeth peeking out.

I know you guys will just grow more handsome each day. I can’t wait to see you again!

Sparkle

It was a joy to meet the A family, some new clients. Both of their precious children had such sparkle … sparkle in their beautiful blue eyes, in the little girl’s smile and giggle, in the baby boy’s expression as he watched the world around him. Miss L was a little shy for part of the session, but we became friends again when I pulled my new pink pettiskirt out of my van and let her play in it. And there was that sparkle again … the sparkle of a lovely young princess twirling in the morning sun. So sweet!

Ah, Fall

What a glorious day we had yesterday! Wasn’t the weather spectacular?? After my sessions in the morning, my husband and I spent nearly all day outside with our kids. I love Fall. I love taking deep breaths on those first mild days after the blaze of summer. I love the sounds of the squirrels in the trees making their winter preparations. I love the cool tones of the sunlight through the changing leaves. I love the lack of mosquitos!

I came inside after lunch to make yesterday’s blog post, the LAST day of the contest, and my internet was down. Oh well, I’ll try later, I thought and went back outside. Before dinner, it was still down. So I planned to post after the kids went to bed.

One small problem. I’ve been working a lot of late nights lately, and my annoying dog has been waking me up during the night. So reading to my son before bed last night gave me a dangerous chance to relax … too much. It was 8:15 and I just couldn’t resist putting on my pj’s and going to sleep for the night.

I woke up at 4 a.m. and realized I’d forgotten to post on the blog. I was so depressed! It was the last day of the 30 Day blog Challenge after all! I wanted to come up with something really special and profound.

Now it’s 6:30 a.m. and my baby girl is waking up, so special and profound just won’t happen this morning. Sorry.

Andie, congrats! Your comment came through first on my email, though it was waiting in the admin panel for moderation. You won! Ashley, you almost got another $100. Thanks for playing, girls!

And thanks everyone for the enthusiasm and fun for the last 30 days. I really hope you will keep reading, commenting, and sharing my blog with your friends. I have thoroughly enjoyed my side of the blog challenge. I plan to continue blogging as often as possible, possibly daily. But sorry, no more $100 prizes after today if I miss. I’ll put myself out of business! :)

Have a beautiful Sunday, everyone.

No, It’s Not Just You

Very often, my clients (especially those with toddlers or older kids) apologize to me at the end of a session for their children’s behavior. And I can genuinely say, 99% of the time, there is nothing to apologize for! Children will be children. They will be emotional, spirited, distracted, energetic, curious, silly, and yes, a little uncooperative. It’s their nature, and it doesn’t bother me one bit. I don’t expect them to behave like angels every second that I’m chasing them with a camera.

And trust me, my kids are exactly the same way. Tonight, the rain paused long enough for me to drag the kids outside. I didn’t even change their clothes from school or wash their faces. I just wanted to play with my new lens anyway. So just to prove to you that your kids aren’t the only ones who are emotional, spirited, distracted, energetic, curious, silly, and yes, a little uncooperative, I thought I’d share a few outtakes. :)
