I did my own children’s holiday portraits tonight. It went well! I brought along my husband, my dad, and friend, Gail, for help. My kids are not impressed by me and my camera, so help is beneficial. We told the boys yesterday about their bribe … er, I mean …. reward. They were extremely motivated and behaved beautifully. Only my daughter is too young to operate on bribes. She definitely lives in the moment. And once the novelty of the new setting and shameless dancing and singing by the adults with cameras wore off, so did her patience for modeling. Being a superstar is such hard work.

Ashley - That’s a sure winner for the card!! What was the bribe…er…reward?
shannon - Thanks, Ashley. The reward was a new Pokemon toy for each of them, and Burger King for dinner. We bought the toys on Saturday at the mall, and for 24 hours I heard “Is it time to do our pictures yet, Mommy?” That’s the most excited they’ve been for a photoshoot EVER!

By the way, Shannon, I picked up the Target Mary Janes in size 3, and they were perfect for the girls. Thank you! Incidentally, are you finding that Erica’s feet seem really small? My girls are still in the 6-12 month Pedipeds, and the other kids their age seem to have outgrown those and moved up to the next size months ago.

Yes, Erica’s feet are on the small side. Her size 3′s are getting a little snug, and she’s moving into 4′s. I think my boys were already in size 5 or 6 before they even started walking.
