… Birthday!

Yesterday was my son’s 4th birthday. Four years ago, we were just waking up, looking forward to our day at a family Independence Day picnic, when I started feeling some mild contractions. I’d had a few episodes of false labor, and the baby was not due for another 3 weeks, so I planned to just continue with my day. Surely this was just another false alarm. But after a couple hours, drinking lots of water, taking a warm bath, and even lying down for a while, the contractions were still there. And I was still in denial. My husband asked how frequent the contractions were coming. “About every 5 minutes,” I replied. Finally, he convinced me to call my midwife. Her response: “Yes, Shannon, you are in labor! Will you PLEASE come to the hospital?!”
Our beautiful boy was born around 6:00 that night. Born on the 4th of July. And that was just the beginning …
With a red hair and green eyes, and the vibrant personality to match, my son is a firecracker! He is passionate, charming, opinionated, bright, funny, and mischevious. He wakes every morning ready to take on the world! He knows how to push every button I have, and push me to the point of screaming, and then he flashes that smile at me and I can’t help but hug him.
Happy Birthday, Big Boy! Mommy loves you more every day!!

I had to include just one of the baby sister. She’s walking!! She just started walking about 10 days ago, the day after my last post about her. She turned 10 months old this week.
