I’m so excited for this weekend. I am off to Milledgeville, Georgia for a workshop with Shelby Lane, an incredibly talented child photographer from Texas. I’m a big fan, so I couldn’t miss this opportunity to spend a weekend with her, soaking up all the knowledge I can.

If you need to reach me this weekend, please leave a message on my studio voice mail, which will send me an automatic page on my cell phone. I don’t know how often I’ll be able to check email, if at all.

And please cross your fingers for my incredible husband, who is bravely and lovingly sending me off for the weekend while he holds down the fort with all three of our kids!

PS – Our baby girl is walking! She took her first steps on Tuesday. She’s getting more and more steady on her feet each day. She can practically run if someone holds her hand. Watch out world!

Having two boys, I love seeing siblings of the same gender and watching the friendship between them emerge. These two sweet girls are the daughters of a very dear friend of mine from college. The little one is around 18 months old, and she just wants to explore her world. Who can blame her?! Her big sister is 5 and has such a playful, grace about her. In both girls, I love their dark hair and the sparkle in their eyes. They are a true joy to photograph!

 

I just have to laugh … are you all talking off the blog and planning your emails together? Because several of you have asked me in the last couple of weeks when you’d get to see some new images of my baby girl! First, let me say thank you … thank you for being friends as well as clients, and for sharing our enthusiam during our daughter’s first year. She is pure joy, delightful, delicate, and dainty. I am excited to share her latest portraits, taken this evening in a quick few minutes before bedtime.

She is 9 months old. Already I can see hints of what her little girl years will bring. She is social and sweet, but careful not to venture too far from the safety of Mommy’s and Daddy’s arms. She loves to giggle, especially at her big brothers. She says “uh-oh” nearly four dozen times each day. She is learning how to sign, and can tell us “more” and “all done” at mealtime. And she is nearly walking! She only needs one hand to hold to tottle along, and that is more for security than anything. Sometimes she’ll forget to hold on, and she’ll just stand on her own for long periods. We know she could take that first independent step if she wanted to, but she’s just not mentally ready.

That’s okay with Mommy. I wish I could bottle up these baby days and keep them forever!
