Some of my recent clients have seen my LONG (too long??) hair, and some know that I’ve been intentionally letting it grow for a reason I felt called to. Well, the journey is complete!
I chopped my hair off and donated it to Locks of Love. For those who have no clue what I’m talking about, Locks of Love is an organization that creates human hair prosthetics for children afflicted with illnesses which cause hair loss. In some cases, they are children with cancer, dealing with the many side effects of grueling chemotherapy. In most cases, they are children with a disease called Alopecia which causes their hair loss. Whatever the reason, I’m sure you can appreciate the way these afflictions can affect a child’s precious self-esteem. I heard about Locks of Love years ago, and I’ve known some loving women and girls who have made donations. Because donated hair for wigs must be at least 10 inches long, it is no short term commitment! It took me over 18 months to grow my hair long enough, and I started with shoulder length hair!
But that time flew by in comparison to the lifetime many of these kids face. So I was honored to do it. And though I’m still getting used to having short hair again, I kind of like it!
If you would like to know more about this great organization, or would like to donate, please visit http://www.locksoflove.org/. Even donations of hair 6 to 10 inches long are appreciated, as they can use that hair to sell for much needed funding. Please note, I am not affiliated in any way with Locks of Love. I just admire what they do and believe in their cause.
Here is the new me …
